Purpose

This manual describes how to install and use the pROBE+ debugger.

Audience

This manual primarily applies to pSOSystem programmers who want to use the pROBE+ debugger to debug applications.

Organization

Chapter 2, ``System Overview," describes the pROBE+ operating environment.

Chapter 3, ``Command Descriptions," provides a detailed description of each pROBE+ command.

Chapter 4, ``Installation and Configuration," describes how to install and configure the pROBE+ debugger.

Chapter 5, ``Operational Considerations," discusses special consider-ations that enable you to use the pROBE+ debugger more effectively.

Appendix A, ``Command Grammar," defines pROBE+ operand grammar and command syntax.

Appendix B, ``Error Messages," explains pROBE+ error messages.

Notation Conventions

This manual uses the following notation conventions:

• Parameters (rc_data), system calls (kc_fatal), keywords (int), and operators (!) that you must enter exactly as the manual shows appear in bold.
• Italics indicate a user-defined value or name that you can substitute for the italicized text. Italics also indicate emphasis, such as when the manual first defines a term.
• Keynames appear within square brackets. A hyphen separating more than one keyname indicates that you hold the keys down at the same time (in left-to-right order). For example, [Ctrl-Shift-E], means you hold down the [Ctrl] and [Shift] keys and then press [E].
• Terminal output appears in constant width.
